Who is all behind the scenes at Paikka? Angie Trygg and I co-own PAIKKA. We just hired our first employee, Liz! How did you get started in the wedding industry? Angie and I met as coworkers at Anthropologie a couple years ago and from there decided to start an event design company. That quickly turned into dreaming up a venue that would operate differently than the others in the Twin Cities, and thus, changed directions into opening PAIKKA together.
What do you enjoy most about working with your clients? Owning a venue allows you to work with many types of clients. We work with many brides and grooms, non-profit leaders, and corporate clients. What I love most is getting to meet all types of people who share an interest and love for wanting to host their event in our venue. It’s fun to help bring each client’s event to life.
Where do you find your inspiration? Getting outside is probably my main source of true inspiration - seeing pattern, color, and texture in plants, the sky, the moon...I can’t get enough! I also log a lot of hours on Remodelista and I used to be a florist so I am always tracking down new floral Instagram accounts to drool over. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and who was it from? “You’re never fucked” from a very wise, and close friend named Loop. It’s true.
What’s the most memorable moment from your career in the wedding industry? PAIKKA’s grand opening party. It was such a glorious day. All of our hard work had come together in a night of dancing with all of our friends and family. I remember feeling really proud of Angie and myself. It was a very surreal night.
Just for fun, what are the three most important things on your desk right now? Well, we have a mobile office at PAIKKA - so I don’t have a permanent desk. I always have a kombucha and dark chocolate, almond and sea salt chocolate bar with me though!
